Wheels and Heels: The Big Noise Around Little Toys was the 2014 Summer show at West Palm Beach’s Norton Museum of Art. The show, an in-depth history of Matchbox cars and Barbie dolls, was developed to be visually engaging, amusing, and informative. The project included all aspects of developing the show; researching the topics, identifying and developing the narrative, acquiring all of the objects in the show (which grew to include a significant amount of restoration work), arranging transportation for the collection, developing and producing mounts for displaying the objects, arranging the 1,000 plus items to fit in available cases, producing text panels and item labels, installing the show, working with museum staff to address museum limitations and requirements, collecting and editing multi-media content, communicating with the press, and presenting a series of lectures and tours.
